Diversity in music is pivotal. It embodies the tapestry of global cultures, experiences, and stories, making the art reflective, inclusive, and progressive. Music, at its core, transcends boundaries, resonates universally, and has the power to connect souls irrespective of their backgrounds.

When artists from diverse origins, like Jerk the DJ from South Sudan, enter the global arena, they bring with them a unique blend of rhythms, narratives, and textures that enrich the auditory experience. South Sudan, with its rich history, traditions, and resilience, offers a distinctive voice that is often underrepresented in the international music industry. Jerk the DJ’s presence as a South Sudanese artist amplifies this voice, bridging gaps and introducing listeners to new sounds and stories. His emergence absolutely diversifies the musical spectrum. It highlights the importance of celebrating and uplifting varied cultural influences as he promotes a more interconnected and harmonious global musical community.

Buay Deng, professionally known as Jerk the DJ, is a proud trailblazer whose sound waves have touched rhythmic HipHop/Rap lovers. His journey, intertwined with passion and perseverance, has echoed in the hallways of major recording studios in Los Angeles, including Paramount Recording Studios, The Village Studios, East West Studios, and the iconic Capitol Records Studios.

He just dropped “Fast Lane”, featuring Caine and Lotty Scotty- and is preparing for an East Coast tour alongside industry stalwarts Dj Paul and Young Buck. Caine is a musician affiliated with legendary hip hop/rap group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony; Lotty Scotty is an artist supported by legendary rapper Twista. Jerk the DJ recently caught the attention of Def Jam’s executive Quincy “Big Heff” Taylor. Big Heff is a music connoisseur, the Ohio Valley Representative for Def Jam Records, and the co-founder of the Ohio Hip Hop Awards & Music Conference. Since 2005, he has also served as the VP of the Nerve DJs. There, he focuses on radio promotions and lifestyle marketing.

Jerk is on a meteoric rise, and he also has political and comedic interests. He was the campaign manager for his long-time friend, comedian and actor Ben Gleib, when he ran for president in 2020; and another old friend is comedian Ben Morrison, who will be featured as a special guest in Jerk’s upcoming music video.

“My early love for music was influenced by legends like Tupac, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Dr.Dre, Eminem, and Michael Jackson,” Jerk shares. Later, his musical palate diversified, resonating with the beats of EDM moguls like Calvin Harris, David Guetta, and Avicii. This amalgamation of old-school rap with modern electronic beats lays the foundation for Jerk’s distinctive sound, bridging the gap between genres and generations.

When he relocated to San Diego, Jerk found himself in a whole new realm. At the young age of 13, he began to record songs and produce beats. His raw talent caught the attention of Tommy Lister Jr., a prominent actor. Lister’s words of encouragement instilled in Jerk a burning desire to succeed, pushing him to delve deeper into the universe of music and production.

In 2011, his entrepreneurial spirit led to the inception of Hit Nation Records. Through this independent record label, Jerk has produced his own beats, and has also launched numerous songs featuring an array of artists. This label is a testament to Jerk’s vision – to create, collaborate, and revolutionize the music industry.

His aspirations don’t stop at music. With familial ties to notable personalities like Kuoth Wiel and Charles Jock, Jerk’s legacy seems to be etched in multifaceted excellence. He is also developing a strong social media presence on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and more.

“Success is defined by the goals you set in your life,” says Jerk. “When you achieve those goals, you achieve success.” And with the goals he’s set, from releasing chart-topping hits to collaborating with industry magnates, Jerk the DJ is undeniably on the path to immense success.

The music video for his new song “Fast Lane” has already gained over half a million views in just days; and the song has made it onto some of the hottest playlists on Spotify, such as Hot Hip Hop Hits and West Side Story. Jerk the DJ now prepares for his upcoming, much-anticipated performance on the East Coast tour. His vibrant beats, collaborations, and unwavering dedication to the craft offer a glimpse into the future – and for Jerk the DJ, the horizon looks incredibly promising.

To all music aficionados, keep your playlists ready and ears tuned, for the rhythms of Jerk the DJ are bound to redefine the sonic landscapes of tomorrow.
