DJ and producer Frederik Abas, who was born in the Netherlands, recounts his experience of taking a path in life that results in the achievement of objectives you never thought possible.
Since he was a young child, Frederik has wanted to be a pilot. He grew up wanting to become a pilot like his father, who worked for the renowned airline KLM. It wasn’t until he hit his teenage years, at about fifteen, that we began to fall in love with music, DJing, and production.
He used to travel a lot to places that forced him to reexamine his hobbies, as well as his hopes and horizons, and to think about new objectives. A year later, in 1991, when he was sixteen years old, he began working for a drive-in show company.
Like all artists and professionals, Abas was inspired by DJ Marcello and DJ Dimitri Kneppers, the creators of Dutch house music, when he first became interested in dance music. His career was already laid out for him at that young age, and he also became inspired to play club house and tech house music.
In the music business, it’s critical to defend a certain subgenre or unique style that characterizes you and eventually becomes your identity or brand. Frederik’s style is regarded as lively and danceable without sacrificing his underground identity.
He went out for law school and other options during his career decisions, but everything ultimately led him to music. The Beverwijk Bazaar in 1994 marked the start of Frederik’s career in booking for the renowned and prosperous Loveland company in the Netherlands. For eight years, Frederik has performed at the Loveland Festival.
Since 2005, Abas has been the primary DJ at Escape Amsterdam, the largest nightclub in Amsterdam. In 2006, DJ Tiesto personally invited Frederik to play a lengthy 3.5-hour club and tech house performance at his own event. After that, he began a residency at Bloomingdale Beach Club with Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Roog, Don Diablo, and other notable DJs from Escape including Quintino, Sidney Samson, Jean, and Tony Cha Cha.
Abas has promised himself a lot of events and a commitment to studio projects, so 2023 will undoubtedly be full of surprises. He will soon depart for the US to perform in Los Angeles. and heading for Tomorrowland.
“Aim for your dreams, but don’t lose yourself along the way. Sometimes the road to greatness takes creating your own path.” – Frederik Abas.
